Oh, I am all for (and about) tradition, and maybe the right answer was to ask one school to leave, but having a group of eleven schools and calling it ten just seems like a mistake and in the long run could do more damage to the brand. All it takes is a Seinfeld monologue or something high profile to really call it out and then what will they do?

Thanks for the feedback Bryan.

Easy Ric, you are treading on sacred ground for a University of Minnesota farm boy.. There is great tradition, recognition, and equity in the Big Ten brand from my perspective, and we should have just admitted Penn State and kicked out Northwestern! ;-)

I agree that the 11 is silly, but I would rather stay at 10 or reduce to 10 than lose the Big Ten name. I may be a progressive in business and politics, but I'm a right wing nut job conservative in sports.
